The Machrie takes its name from the Gaelic word machair, which means the links. Set in the dunes of Islay, and designed in 1891 by Willie Campbell, it is the traditional Scottish links.

Planet Golf rates The Machrie as a strong candidate to join its list of the top 100 courses on Earth. And says its magnificent Hebridean bay is one of the most beautiful locations in world golf.

The Machrie withstands the ultimate test, the test of time.

Walk in the footsteps of the golfing gods.

Play The Machrie.

Play it twice and fall in love!

Designed By Willie Campbell

When Willie stood on one of the sand dunes overlooking Laggan Bay in 1891 he said "this place was made for Gowf". He was right.
